Years teaching: I spent the first 6 1/2 years of my career teaching science.  I then became a dean of discipline at my 900 student building.  I spent two years as an assistant principal.  I returned to NW Indiana in 2006 and have been Principal of SMS since then. 

Special Interests: I enjoy spending time with my family. I have a wife and two daughters. 

Music: I enjoy a wide variety
of music.

Movies:  Blues Brothers, Christmas Story

TV Show:  I enjoy watching the Discovery Channel, and sports.

Hobbies:  I enjoy watching the 2008 World Series Champs: The Chicago Cubs.  I'm on the Chicago Bears season ticket waiting list I'm number 1,299).  I enjoy playing basketball when I have a chance.  I like to fish. I am a  member of an adult baseball team that plays in the NABA. 

This is my second year at St. Mary’s School and I am extremely happy to be here.  This is an exciting time in St. Mary’s 135 year history.  We have fantastic students who are very committed to their academics and also involved in a large variety of extra-curricular activities.  I attribute this commitment to the great families that we have here.  Our parents are extremely involved and always supportive of every program, activity, or call for volunteers.  The support from our Parish Priest, Father Pat Kalich is unparalleled.  Our faculty and staff is what really makes St. Mary’s special.  They are the most dedicated group you will ever meet and their love for children and Catholic education is an inspiration.

 If you are a parent who is considering enrolling your child at St. Mary’s I encourage you to give us a call and come in for a tour.  I will be happy to show you around our building and answer your questions.  We are currently accepting students at several, but not all, grade levels.  If your child is three or four years old, please consider our nursery school or pre-school as an option. 

 This year we plan to start a technology initiative at St. Mary’s that will put us on the cutting edge of technology integration in education.  We have recently begun using a system called Edline that allows parents to view their child’s updated grades from home via the internet, check assignments, and several other useful features.  Many new improvements are on the horizon and we look forward to putting this new technology in the hands of our students and teachers.
