STATE OF INDIANA’S “SCHOOL CHOICE” VOUCHER PROGRAM
Saint Mary’s Catholic Community School proudly participates in the State of Indiana’s “School Choice” voucher program. Students who meet the existing admission requirements to Saint Mary’s and the eligibility requirements defined by state authorities may be eligible for a School Choice voucher for tuition and fees.
Eligibility requirements defined by the state are posted on http://www.doe.in.gov/improvement/school-choice/choice-scholarships and include:
- Enrolled in a public school for at least the last 2 semesters during the 2011-2012 school year.
- Entering grades 2 – 8 during the 2012-2013 academic year.
- Annual income guidelines:

Those applying for a spot at St. Mary’s School on or after our Open Application Date, March 8, 2012 must bring the following documents:
- The candidate’s most recent report card.
- The candidate’s most recent ISTEP test results.
- The candidate’s birth certificate.
- The household’s 2011 Federal Income Tax Return with supporting documents included (W-2, 1099, etc.)
Saint Mary’s administrators will examine the pool of school applications with a view to identifying those who are eligible to continue with the voucher application process.
If there are more eligible candidates than available seats, a lottery system will be used (beginning in grade 8 and continuing in descending order) to allocate seats according to our school’s admission protocol categories:
- Roman Catholic candidates whose household is a current, contributing member of Saint Mary’s Church.
- Roman Catholic candidates whose household is a current, contributing member of a neighboring Roman Catholic Church.
- Candidates whose household is not a current, contributing member of a Roman Catholic Church – including those from non-Catholic faiths.
If a lottery is necessary, it will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 at 7:00pm in the Church. In order to keep families intact when a candidate is accepted, their younger sibling candidates will also be accepted if they meet admission requirements and there are open seats available – and then they will be eligible to continue with the voucher application process.
